It's A Lovely Day

from A Season Of Our Own by James R. Gray

/

lyrics

Birds chirping, out my window.
My eyes open up to the sun.
Peek through the curtains, see the blue sky,
Open the window up to let in some warmth.
Bare branches on the trees will soon be full and green,
And my blues will float away on the breeze.

Winter's melting, I hear it dripping.
I smell the scent of the earth once again.
I hear the pipes of the bikes on the street.
They finally got to take them out for a spin.

And it's a lovely day for a walk outside,
Or a cold drink in the sun.
It's a lovely day down at the park
To strum my guitar, and have fun.

And all the kids in the neighborhood,
Are laughing and playing, just like we always would.
It brings back an old picture in my mind.
The film was a little grainy,
And the years have made it yellow and hazy.
But for a magical moment, I've bridged the gaps in time.

On this lovely day for a walk outside,
With a cold drink in the sun.
On this lovely day, down at the park,
I strum my guitar and have fun.
I'm strumming for the summer's begun.
