A Season Of Our Own

by James R. Gray

Summer dreaming on a cold winter's day. Summer dreaming, and I wish I had a beach, and a wave, A six-string, a six-pack. I'd be living easy. Everybody's crazy about summertime. Summer dreaming with my boots on my feet Through snow and ice, but I'm a-wishin they were splashing the sea, Where the sun's no tease, it's warm and breezy. The living's real easy come summertime. So I close my eyes and face the sun, And I turn my back on the winter. There's a smile in my mind, But the snow's got it buried inside, Til I dream that dreamy dream of the summertime. Summer dreaming as I'm laying in rest, Counting days until I know I'll see the summer again. I drift off, and drift off, on the ocean Each day is getting closer to the summertime. Summer dreaming on a cold winter's day. Summer dreaming, and I wish I had a beach, and a wave, A six-string, a six-pack. I'd be living easy. Everybody's crazy about summertime. So I close my eyes and face the sun, And I turn my back on the winter. There's a smile in my mind, But the snow's got it buried inside, Til I dream that dreamy dream of the summertime.

Come, come, come to my window, little springtime songbird. Won't you come let me know it's okay? It's gonna be okay.. When you're gone, it's cold and it's quiet, little springtime songbird. Won't you come, bring a song to my day? You took off for the winter, Left me lonely, cold, and bitter. Please take the sunshine back with you, Or take me away... I'm like you in so many ways, you springtime songbird, Chasing the seasons only to find out that they Just catch up for the winter, Where it's lonely, cold, and bitter. So take the sunshine back with you, Or take me away For the winter, From the lonely, cold, and bitter. Take the sunshine back with you, Or take me away...

Birds chirping, out my window. My eyes open up to the sun. Peek through the curtains, see the blue sky, Open the window up to let in some warmth. Bare branches on the trees will soon be full and green, And my blues will float away on the breeze. Winter's melting, I hear it dripping. I smell the scent of the earth once again. I hear the pipes of the bikes on the street. They finally got to take them out for a spin. And it's a lovely day for a walk outside, Or a cold drink in the sun. It's a lovely day down at the park To strum my guitar, and have fun. And all the kids in the neighborhood, Are laughing and playing, just like we always would. It brings back an old picture in my mind. The film was a little grainy, And the years have made it yellow and hazy. But for a magical moment, I've bridged the gaps in time. On this lovely day for a walk outside, With a cold drink in the sun. On this lovely day, down at the park, I strum my guitar and have fun. I'm strumming for the summer's begun.

What A View 03:04
I like to get real high, climb a mountain, Where I can see for miles, Photograph the scene, the early summer World's a lush green. I like to catch my breath, on a lookout point, On the clearest of days. Maybe see the ocean in the distance, through the haze. And oh... Oh... What a view. What a view. What a view. I like to sip my drink by the campfire, as the sun burns down. Watch lights flicker on and off beneath us, Back in town. And oh... Oh... What a view. What a view. What a view. Oh... Oh... What a view. What a view. What a view.

When the autumn comes around, and the leaves start falling down, And that winter's on its way. I'll be sitting on the rocks, high up on the mountaintop, Waving goodbye to those long gone summer days. And the view is bittersweet of the colors on the trees, Cuz it's colder every day. So stranded in my thoughts, on this lonely mountaintop, I think I might just fly away. I feel okay when I sleep, but dreams don't look like what's real. I try to smile when I'm down, but it's exhausting. But then I saw you down there, Brown eyes and long brown hair. You made me smile and feel like I'm sleepwalking. Now the snow begins to fall, I'm smiling high and walking tall, Cuz we're walking hand in hand. And we'll just wait out the storms, keep each other safe and warm, And keep smiling cuz we can. I feel okay when I sleep, but my real dream is what's real. And I've been smiling all the time in that real world. Yeah, since I saw you down there, Brown eyes and long brown hair. You made me smile and feel, Cuz you've been my girl.
6.
Leap, little leaf, from that tree, Where you made my summer green. Now you're free, floating free, But just for a blink in the eye of eternity, Til you crash to the dying grass beneath. We all end up in the ground. We all have a season of our own. We all break down in the soil. We all rot out alone. We all end up in the ground. We all have a season of our own. We all break down in the soil. We all rot out alone. We all spring up toward the sun, Eager in some month of May, Never knowing what it is we've become, But living out another day, yeah. We're living out another day.

Feel the life. Feel the life. Feel the life. Feel the life. Come a little bit closer, make a little more love. A little more love is just a little more fun. It's just a little more fun with a little more action. With a little more kissin on your lips, I feel the love in your eyes. I swear that only makes it even easier to Feel the life, flowing beneath us, And flowing between us, where it's been all along. Feel the life, the love that surrounds us, The way that it found us. Before the life's all gone. Have a couple more drinks, and get a little more drunk. A little more drunk can be a little more fun. It's just a little more fun with a little more action. With a little more "hey, whatcha doin? You're acting kinda foolish." I swear that only makes it even easier to Feel the life, flowing beneath us, And flowing between us, where it's been all along. Feel the life, the love that surrounds us, The way that it found us, Before the life's all gone. Before the life's all gone...

People are walking down the street no longer. I feel the wind, and I feel the heat much stronger. Places I used to go to are now just memories, And people walking down the street are too. As well as me and you... It's been that ever since the walls turned red, and the ceiling blew away, And the night turned bright, left a dark burned day. Their bombs have all been dropped, and all their ships have come ashore. This isn't just a nightmare any more. So everyone I've ever loved is gone now. And I'm looking down at death from above. It's so wrong how All that we've ever done will never make history. The world we know is gone, it's been erased. We're the forgotten waste... It's been that ever since the walls turned red, and the ceiling blew away, And the night turned bright, left a dark burned day. Their bombs have all been dropped, and all their ships have come ashore. This isn't just a nightmare any more. The walls turned red, and the ceiling blew away, And the night turned bright, left a dark burned day. Their bombs have all been dropped, and all their ships have come ashore. This isn't just a nightmare any more. This isn't just a nightmare any more. Yeah, it's more than a fucking nightmare now.

I'm waiting for a letter to come in the mail, And tell me I'm all theirs. Then they give me a gun, and they send me to paradise. On a mission to paint the city red, And not stop til they're all dead, Or til that fate's mine. Then I remember you. Do you remember life? I gave my all for you. But you, Were gone in a flash of light. And now I fight for you, But I don't feel at all. Haunted by thoughts of truth, With memories recalled. I'm watching these memories fading in and out, And I don't know how, I'll ever be able to smile again, no... I've got photos and notes that I re-read, Just to see what they all said, But they leave me with no hope. Then I remember you. Do you remember life? I gave my all for you, but you Were gone in a flash of light. Now I see your face on them, Through horror and oozing red. Brain not feel good above. Swallow last empty breath. Reach to the void for my love..
10.
Take me back in time, Before the end of all the lives. Before the tears had all been cried, That left the empty place inside. When your eyes, Your eyes, Your eyes would light up like the sunshine, Like the sunshine, like the sunshine...
